The fine print

Privacy Policy

WERD is designed to work without asking for your email address, phone number, or real name.

Who operates WERD

WERD is created and operated by mini tech co. This policy explains how information is handled when you use werd.gg.

Information we process

When you first play, Supabase creates an anonymous account with a random identifier. We store that identifier with your puzzle results, including whether you won, incorrect attempts, hint usage, completion time, and puzzle date.

If you choose a leaderboard display name, it is stored with your anonymous account and shown publicly alongside qualifying leaderboard results. Do not use a name that reveals information you prefer to keep private.

Our hosting and infrastructure providers may process standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, request time, and requested pages for security, reliability, and operational logging.

Browser storage

WERD uses local browser storage to keep your anonymous authentication session and restore an unfinished game, timer, attempts, hint state, and completed status. This storage is necessary for the requested game functionality. Clearing site data removes the local session and game state, and WERD may then recognise you as a new anonymous player.

We do not use advertising or behavioural-tracking cookies.

Analytics

WERD uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate traffic and improve the game. It does not use cookies. Vercel may process anonymised information such as the page visited, referral source, visit time, approximate location, browser, operating system, and device type. We do not use this information to identify individual players.

How we use information

We use this information to operate the game, restore progress, calculate personal and community statistics, maintain streaks and leaderboards, prevent duplicate submissions, investigate abuse, and keep the service secure.

Sharing and service providers

Leaderboard display names and associated scores are public. Other game information is used for personal or aggregate statistics and is not sold.

We rely on service providers including Supabase for authentication and database infrastructure, Vercel for hosting and cookie-free web analytics, Google Fonts for typography, and esm.sh to deliver a browser software dependency. These providers may process technical information under their own terms and privacy policies.

Retention and your choices

Game results and anonymous identifiers may be retained while needed to provide statistics, leaderboards, security, and service history. You can clear local WERD data through your browser settings. To request access, correction, or deletion of server-side information, contact mini tech co. through minitech.co. We may need information from your active browser session to identify an anonymous account.

Children

WERD is a general-audience word game and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. Players should avoid placing personal information in display names.

Changes

We may update this policy as the game or legal requirements change. The date above will show the latest revision.
